Jeong IL Son was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of LP Displays in April 2004. He is responsible for the overall strategic directions of the company as it further strengthens its leadership position in the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) market.

Prior to his current position, he was the Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer of the Company from January 2004. Mr. Son has held key positions within LP Displays including Head of CRT 1 Operations, Plant Director of Hranice (Czech Republic) and Plant Director of Newport (Wales) at LP Displays since its start in July 2001. Under his leadership, he played a key role in the achievements of the Best-in-Cost (BIC) targets of Korea and Indonesia; the turnaround and Color Display Tubes (CDT) restructuring of Plant Nanjing (China) and the excellent business performance of Plant Changsha (China) in 2003 as well as in the stabilization of production and productivity improvements of Plant Hranice.

Before joining LP Displays, he worked in LG Electronics Inc. (LGE), formerly known as Goldstar, from 1978 to 2001. His excellent leadership and management skills highlight his more than two-decade career in LGE where he held a wide scope of senior management positions.

At LGE, he led the CRT business and operations of Gumi and Changwon in Korea and Newport in Wales. Mr. Son played a key role in making CRT one of LGE’s major businesses in the 1990s.

He brings to LP Displays his seven-year expatriate experiences in Japan and the UK.

Mr. Son is from Korea. He speaks English and Japanese.
