LG.Philips Displays presents slim tube portfolio at 2006 IMID Exhibition in Korea
LG.Philips Displays, the world’s leading cathode ray tube (CRT) display maker, presented the world’s slimmest 21” UltraSlim color picture tube (CPT), 29” and 32” SuperSlim CPTs, and 17” SuperSlim color display tubes (CDT) at the IMID 2006 (International Meeting on Information Display Exhibition 2006) held at Daegu, Korea on August 23.
The 21” UltraSlim CPT is the world’s slimmest CRT, measures only 29.6cm from the front to the rear, and has a reduced depth by 30% compared to existing regular tubes’ depth of 43.6cm. It not only offers slim and refined designs to customers, but also features the best picture quality – all these at affordable prices. Thus, it is expected to gain a competitive edge versus competitors and great reception from consumers.
The 29” and 32” SuperSlim CPTs and 17” SuperSlim CDT measure 32-35cm from the front to the rear, with its slim design fast gaining popularity from customers in Japan, Europe, and Americas, and emerging markets such as Brazil, Russia, India and China. Currently, global demand for slim tubes is increasing from 2005’s 2 million units to 2006’s 11 million units.
Boosted by clear picture quality and high definition innovation of its SuperSlim and UltraSlim tubes, LG.Philips Displays is set to further consolidate its global leadership in the CRT industry.
The company’s global SuperSlim tube production base in Korea mass-produces 32”, 29”, 21”, and 17” SuperSlim tubes. Its China plants in Nanjing and Changsha and Indonesian plant in Bekasi mass-produce 21” and 29” SuperSlim tubes. Starting in the third quarter of 2006, it will mass-produce its unique UltraSlim CPTs in its Changwon plant in Korea, and is set to expand production in its China plants as well.
LG.Philips Displays is a market leader in CRTs for TV and computer monitors. The company produces one-fourth of CRT tubes for TV and computer monitors selling worldwide. Using its global manufacturing infrastructures, it supplies parts to world class TV and computer monitor brands around the world.
LG.Philips Displays continues to contribute to the development of the CRT industry, and is poised to keep up its strong leadership, empowered by its competitiveness and innovative high quality products.
