CES 2005, Las Vegas: Customers impressed with LG.Philips Displays Cybertube+ SuperSlim’s improved performance

Seventy guests composed of TV setmakers, retailers, competitors, suppliers and media visited the LG.Philips Displays’ show during the CES event in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, from January 6-9, 2005.

The 32” WSRF SuperSlim TV sets on exhibit carried the newest 32”WSRF SuperSlim tube that features HDTV compatibility. All customers who visited the show recognized the highly improved picture performance of the SuperSlim compared with models shown previously. They are convinced that its product performance is in line with conventional Real Flat picture quality, thus large market opportunities for SuperSlim are seen.

A big number of TV setmakers including TTE, Toshiba, Sanyo, Orion, Vestel, Beko, Profila Telra and Daewoo, among others, expressed keen interest in the SuperSlim. LG.Philips Displays’ customer, LG Electronics, introduced their 32” SuperSlim TV set, carrying LG.Philips Displays SuperSlim tube. In addition, Beko displayed a prototype 32” SuperSlim TV set in their CES booth. The CRT SuperSlim attracted the attention of retailers, media and end-consumers

Following LG.Philips Displays’ private show and the SuperSlim exposure at the CES fairgrounds, the SuperSlim “brand” generated an initial “pull” and has reached parts of the retailer market, which have had discussions with CTV setmakers on the SuperSlim product introduction.

A number of setmakers – coming from Japan, Mexico, China and Europe -- such as Toshiba, Orion, Vestel, Beko and Profila Telra now also want to speed-up their SuperSlim design-in programs and are planning their SuperSlim TV set introduction in the marketplace this year. TV setmakers are also all looking forward to see the demo of the 29”RF SuperSlim “Light and Play” expected within two months.

LG.Philips Displays’ Cybertube+ SuperSlim also generated interest from the US media who held interviews with company Chief Sales Officer Wiebo Vaartjes who emphasized that the “SuperSlim” product series herald “the new generation of CRT displays.”

LG.Philips Displays’ private show was held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, from January 6-9, 2005 where four SuperSlim products were demonstrated: 32” WSRF SuperSlim TV on pedestal; 32” WSRF SuperSlim TV table model; 21” RF SuperSlim TV and the 29” RF SuperSlim TV (first display of its prototype).
